ARBUCKLE
Arbuckle Downtown Revitalization
All-volunteer group reorganizes to build downtown park
BEFORE > Arbuckle, an unincorporated area in rural Northern California, had become stalled in its long-term efforts to beautify and revitalize downtown. Dependent on volunteers and with no direct funding from the state or county, the Arbuckle Revitalization Committee (ARC) sought to infuse new life and direction in the town.
AFTER > We provided an implementation guide that included recommendations to strengthen the existing organizational structure, right down to its name. The ARC was incorporated, and to better convey the permanence of the group, they changed their name from Arbuckle Revitalization Committee to Corporation. Other efforts to maintain momentum included expansion of the board, with project-specific committees, a working membership, and involving additional residents to work on revitalization efforts.
After six years of planning and raising funds, the beautiful Arbuckle Downtown Park was completed. This was an all-volunteer effort; the result of a re-energized board that was focused on a clearly defined mission.
